A gentleman named Rob posted a comment regarding cell phone registration and also an address to send checks to help out earthquake victims in Mexicali. If you would like to help the Rotary Club of San Felipe provide supplies to the earthquake survivors, please send your checks to: San Felipe Rotary Foundation and mail to P. O. Box 9011, PMB 370, Calexico, CA 92232. Evidently the Mexican Senate did not pass the extension to register cell phones, so if you haven’t already done it, you should take your phone to a Telcel or MovieStar office, whichever is appropriate and they can help you get it registered. I would just as soon throw my cell in the garbage. What did we ever do without them? We waited and talked on the phone when we were at our office or home. Oh, the good old days. Don’t forget about the Craft Fair tomorrow at the Lighthouse Restaurant beginning at around 9:00 a.m. The party at Juanito’s starts at 6:00 p.m.
I’ve been trying to register my cell phone for an hour and both web pages are not in service or they are swamped and not responding. I will keep trying and if I’m successful, I’ll post the results here. What a pain.
There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding registering cell phones in Mexico. A while back, we were told there was a six month to one year extension as the cell phone company thought it would be too much of a burden to have all cell phones registered by April 10, 2010. It now appears we have to register them by midnight tonight. My cell phone gives me this message: “By law, you must register your celular with Renaut before April 10, 2010.” Here is the site you need to “easily register” www.reanut.gov.mx. I just tried to go on this site and it doesn’t work, so I would suggest you go to www.telcel.com and register your phone there or you may call *264 and follow the prompts.
Good news! The 13 year old who was missing has been found: “Hi, Kat – I wanted to thank you for all the help offered. I’m not sure if it was through you, we think it may have been, but a family called to let us know she is with them and doing fine. They said they picked her up from the street. I’m not sure when her dad will be picking her up, hopefully soon, but at least now we know she’s ok. Your help is greatly appreciated. Are you in San Felipe? If we happen to accompany him, we’d like to stop and thank you personally. Thank you, Claudia.” All’s well that ends well. I just love a happy ending.
The San Felipe Rotary Club is helping those in need as a result of the 7.2 earthquake we had on Easter Sunday. They are collecting blankets, non perishable food items, diapers for babies and adults, bed spreads, anti-diarrhea medication, and cash, of course. Please get in touch with Michele or Bob McDonald or any other Rotary member and help a community in need.
Carole, owner of “One of a Kind Fashions” is in dire need of a laptop as her laptop took a dive. If you have an extra one laying around or if you are about to upgrade, please keep Carole in mind. You can find her at the dress shop or at Club de Pesca.
You mentioned that Carole at One Of A Kind was in need of oa new laptop. I just came from Bert Streppel at Campo Ocotillos and purchased a used charger for my laptop for less than half price. Have Carole give him a call at 576-0339. His house is easy to find in the campground. He’s on the left side of the street at the stop sign across the street from the Chocolate Lovers. If you would included her Email address, I wouldhave sent it to him and not have bothered you. Susie
Hi Kat,
The web address is http://www.renaut.gob.mx/ but you don’t need that (can’t register online).
Just send a text to 2877 with ALTA.curp (alta, then dot, then your curp). If you don’t have a CURP you need to visit a company store or good dealer so they can take a passport copy, but today is probably not the ideal day…
I mentioned on my site (and twitter) a few days ago that the Senate didn’t pass the extension, so the original deadline held.
For the Rotary fund raiser, Michele said donation checks can to be made payable to the San Felipe Rotary Foundation at PO Box 9011, PMB 370, Calexico, CA 92232. (Sunrunner).
