I hear the weather is great in San Felipe; too bad I can’t say the same for Lake Chelan. It’s been raining since last night and although we saw some blue skies this morning, it had started to rain again. My buddy Kenneth Whitmore wrote me regarding A Child’s Garden, The Flying Sams and our American football team, The Tiburones: “I wanted to update you on the Sam’s clinic. We had 11 patients for operations, 3 more than we had planned. But there was one ‘no show’ and one patient’s blood pressure was too high to operate on, so our final count was 9 operations. All had their patches removed yesterday morning and all were able to read the eye chart. The look on their faces was pricless; the last plane leaves in about one hour. Yesterday we had our first home game, and the Rotary presented the boys their uniforms, and we had a crowd of around 200, including Ken Duffy, President of Rotary, and projects manager – I beleive his name is Jerry. Our boys played hard but the other team was a little bit better, but we are showing improvement daily. After the games some of the parents prepared lunch for both teams and many others. It was truly a great day with no serious injuries. Anyway that should give you an update on the two events. Did get pictures of Mayor with new equipment, and video of game. Need help getting them on computer. If I can get it done, I will send you the pictures and video.” Thank you Kenny.
Monthly Archives: April 2010
26 April 2010 – Monday.
I didn’t post anything yesterday on the Korner and that’s because it was my daughter’s birthday and to tell you the truth, I forgot until evening and by that time, it was a bit late. Another Monday in San Felipe and things are a bit quiet I hear. The weather up here has been a bit chilly, except when the wind dies down. It is so beautiful when it’s sunny. So my daughter turned 33 yesterday and Hop-a-Long came down for a mini party. She got Avitar for a gift and so we all watched it and I’m telling you – it’s the longest movies I think I’ve seen, except for Ben Hur. I believe it was 166 minutes but the special effects were pretty good.
24 April 2010 – Saturday.
I understand we had a little rain or a lot, depending on where you live. If it rained enough to water the plants and pack down the sand, then it’s a good thing. If it rained enough to flood the streets, then it’s not such a good thing. The weather in Lake Chelan is crisp, clear and sunny, but it’s a bit chilly for my Mexican blood. It’s warming up in San Felipe and the rain has stopped so if you came for the weekend, you should be able to return with a suntan.
