Here is a bit of information regarding the new immigration rules written by Tony Colleraine:: “The visa change is for foreigners who are visiting the USA (for example, from Germany). If they have a US-issued visa, then they are deemed to be safe enough to visit Mexico without further screening and visa applications. Mexican law now requires that US tourists have their passports available to show that they are US citizens, and hence also eligible to spend money in Mexico. After all, they have to have passports to get back into the USA. The thinking is that there is no need to have a tourist visa if you have a passport – especially in these times when Mexico is trying hard to keep its tourism economy running. However, on the business of making a contract, some official form of paperwork from the Mexican government is still required. I assume your neighbor who wants to sell her house will contract with a local real estate vendor? If so, she “should” have at least an FM-T, though I expect that most of them will just want to see the fideicomiso document and a passport. However, when it comes to signing the transfer at the Notario office, my instinct tells me that an actual FM-3 will have to be presented. It may be best to stop at immigration at the border and at least get an FM-T, or stop at the Mexican Consulate in Calexico to do it:

Val Domer wrote with a very important point. Previously, we had Val’s Events, a page where you could look to see what was happened around town and it was a chore keeping it going, what with the way bands jump around and restaurants change their hours. At any rate, Briana from the Korner is busy getting names and hours of places downtown and on the Malécon and Val will go over the old page and make the changes and hopefully what we’ll end up with is an up-to-date list of places to try and any specials they may be having. Because I have only text on this posting, I am going to shamelessly show off my grandson, Khye aka Turtle. I can’t believe he’s only two, although he’ll be three in September. What a doll. My daughter, Desiree Danielle Blair, will turn 33 on Sunday. I’ve posted more photos in between paragraphs.

I’m sorry to say there will be no Kat’s Korner today. For those of you who start your day out with a dose of the Korner, please accept my apologies. I will be back on line tomorrow. Please stay tuned. Kat
