Another lousy day in paradise.  I can’t believe this weather; well at least compared to up north but the mornings are absolutely gorgeous.  I’ve heard a few people complain about the heat and humidity, but I love it.  If you weren’t at Al’s Backstreet Bar last night, you missed some good laughs.  Thank you to the Illustrated Lady and Amapola for giving me a very nice birthday bash.  Of course, I can’t post half of the photos because Irene got so wild (just kidding; it was Michele) but I will post the non-rated ones on Kat’s Gallery #2 and a couple on the Korner.  Again, thank you to everyone who left comments and birthday wishes and cards.  It was a great day and very nice to see Natasha James stroll in to wish me a Happy Birthday. Natasha has a hit record from her “Tequila Time” album currently #1 in Japan.

Well Kat, I have to tell you I was very suprised to read it was your 60th birthday.  That laid back San Felipe lifestyle has kept you looking much younger.  We are wishing you a wonderful birthday and party.  Oh how we wish we could be there at Al’s to help you celebrate!  Enjoy! All the best, Ijunia & Rab Vaillancourt.” Tom Scott (of Marge and Tom who play at Los Arcos) asked me an odd question last night regarding why I put my real age in writing and I suppose my answer is “why not?”  It is what it is.  Now, when I’m seventy, I may be more reluctant to post my photos.

If you have good bandwidth, take a look at this live video Cordell sent of a herd of Elk running in Colorado.  “Kat – This is near my daughter’s summer home in the four corners area. Cordelli” and it’s very impressive. You can see that video here.  Tonight at Juanito’s Cantina you’ll find Line Dance classes (every Thursday night) at Juanito’s Cantina at El Dorado Ranch from 5pm to 7pm here in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.  Donna Roberts is in Almatar Hospital in Mexicali and we wish her a speedy recovery.  My mother is feeling better and although she’s made one more trip to the hospital, she’s resting at home.  The final solution to keeping my dogs from climbing the tree in the back and jumping the fence was to put barbed wire around the tree and only one dog was bleeding yesterday, so although Bubba tried, I think they finally got the picture. It may sound cruel, but it’s better than having them picked up by the dog catchers or worse, hit by a car.  Who ever heard of tree climbing dogs anyway? The 4th of July weekend is fast approaching and, of course, we’ll have state elections here on the 5th, so there will be a lot of people in town.  I certainly hope people come down to visit for the long weekend.  I must get ready to go and film our third “Walkabout with Kat” and this episode, we’ll watch Chivas being milked right on the Sea of Cortez.  For those of you with low bandwidth, try downloading it and listen to it off line.  Tonight is the buffet dinner with Derek Willey performing at the Sweet Spot down on the Malécon which begins at about 7:00 ish.  Tomorrow night, Agave Blues, con guapo Arturo, will be playing at the Jollymon Bar.  There’s more, but it escapes me at the moment. The photo below was taken by none other than Victor Rodriguez Ratliff or VRR and I believe this is his grandson.  Victor is or was traveling around the Pacific Northwest.

But the cutest photo he doctored up is below.  Thank you Victor – you’re so cute.  In case you didn’t know, Gatita means “kitty” in Spanish and because my name is “Kat” it would translate as “gata” – hence, Gatita Loca or the crazy kitty.  I’m also going to plant some flowers in my new rockery, but that’s another WalkAbout and it must be in the late afternoon.  You don’t want to plant anything in the heat of the day and Palm trees like to be watered at dusk.  Photo and artwork by VRR.

I am waiting for another Victor to send photos of the beach clean up which was held on Friday at 6:00 on the Malécon.  I wasn’t able to make it because of the Desert Mother’s benefit, but I’m sure it was a success.  Happy Thursday!
