28 July 2010 – Wednesday-early.
Update: Don’t forget about open mike nite at Jollymon. I wish they had a bus from town out there and back because I really wanted to go, but I have night blindness and it makes it hard to see. Too bad; I had a song ready ja ja.
Luis and I went together to run errands before we drove out south. I just lost two really long paragraphs I wrote and I don’t have a clue how I did it. I do remember I wrote about my pleasant surprise to see the Desert Mothers and mentors painting the shop downstairs in La Plazita, where they will be showing their art work. Hopefully, if you come to visit or if you live here, you’ll support these women who are very talented and they’re cool because they are now in La Plazita.
We then took a ride to Yet Mail, where my tri-pods came in and I had to pay $10 duty! It was actually only $5 for each package, so that’s not too bad and even if it was, there’s not a whole lot I can do about it, so I’ll just let it go. I usually send it to my other address and pick up my own packages, but the tariff seems a bit high. We drove out to La Joya del Mar” and walked to the water to make a short clip for the end of the next “Walk About with Kat” which was filmed partially in Campo Ocotillos and on the Malécon. We’re having a very good response to them and ideas of where to go and what to ask. We’re new at this, but I can assure you of this. They will keep getting better and we will all weather the storm or we won’t. I spoke to an El Dorado exec/sort of and he tells me they are selling at El Dorado on the weekends; not a whole lot, but a few each week. La Joya del Mar sold a lot and I hear some property is moving down south, but most agree it’s going to take more than a season to recover from this situation. So, let’s work on getting some tourism back.
This is AnitaNet’s interpretation of my writing: “My dogs are driving me crazy. They keep shifting around on my floor, and making me wind my way through a maze of mutts. It’s like having big, hairy rugs that move themselves. I swear, I should have a huge yard sale and sell dogs too. A dog sale.
Walking the beaches of San Felipe has got to be the best therapy there is. Sand between the toes, the crash of waves, being able to just get lost in your own thoughts for a while in the fresh sea air…. As that old song goes, “Who could ask for anything more?” But it really does give you a great peace of mind, especially if you head south a little ways and can walk on beaches that feel like they’ve never been set foot on before. We really do live in a beautiful place.
Town is a bit quiet these days, the summer heat is getting to everyone, and the a/c’s are cranked up on high. But it’s not really that bad, especially after it gets dark and cools down a bit, it’s nice to stroll the Malecon and take in a bit of our little seaside town’s flavor. And seriously, it’s a heckuvalot better than a freezing winter spent buried in snow! And we do have the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence coming, so we have good cause to celebrate!

CLASSIC KAT'S KORNER

Do you have a “Save” button on that Mac? With all of the problems you have, I would use it after each sentence. Susie

Suzie – it’s supposed to save automatically, but it didn’t. I know, I used to save with my old program, but this one’s new to me!! Thanks for writing.

Luis is and has been in post production most of the afternoon – cutting and pasting so to speak- and figuring the whole thing out .. takes a bit of time.
Around 12 hours of Post production for each Walkabout.
