I woke up this morning thinking it was Monday morning, so what a pleasant surprise when I realized it was Sunday and Luis and I had a trip planned to the harbor at 10:00 a.m. Tony Reyes Fishing Tours had a six day deep sea fishing trip taking off from the harbor this morning and we wanted to include it in our latest walk about. The series is turning out to be quite popular, so we’re going to continue to make them. I had dinner Friday night at the Sweet Spot and this photo is by Stephanie of John Chow (sporting a new do) and me with the shades on.
And the photo below is the same night but shows other clientele in the restaurant. They were expecting 18 people when we showed up, so we got our order in early and I ate my desert first (flan). Can’t help it cause I love their flan.
I was home by 8:30 and I thought about driving out north and changed my mind. I really am a home body; I enjoy walking around my yard and watching the moon shine down on the rocks. Once the Baja is in your blood, I don’t know how you shake it. Kat’s Gallery #1 has been viewed 122038 times which is very nice, considering it was dumped two years ago. It’s humid as hell out today. By the time we got back from the harbor and Rosita’s Restaurant, I was soaked. This is “Cindy Elizabeth Montes Alcantar” who works as a waitress at Rositas. She’s working on her English so you might want to give her a little help now and again. Cindy’s very sweet and a great wait person (as we call them in the homeland). Stop by and tell her you saw her photo on Kat’s Korner! Photo by Luis.
If you didn’t read Bruce Barber’s comment on the Korner, then you haven’t heard that he is having surgery on his knee and next year is Freda’s last year as President of the San Felipe Assocciation of Retired Persons. Those will be some big shoes to fill, but it can be done as long as SFARP is kept as a separate entity from any other civic group. Bruce informed me I’m speaking in November, so I’ll start practicing now. By the way, we still have a few copies of Bruce’s book up at La Plazita “Of Sand and Sea – Two Living Deserts” if you’d like to read about the history of the Baja.
We are meeting with Sergio Leon tomorrow at La Vaquita to discuss the strategy for the upcoming shrimp festival in November. We are going to be building a web page for them and putting together packages, which include a room and a meal or a free drink somewhere. It’s absolutely necessary we start planning now or before we know it, it’s November. Those of you with rentals, you may want to consider lowering your room rates in order to promote our town as an affordable town. I touched on this lightly in my last walk about. While I was traveling, I stayed in a couple of five star hotels and I mean five – not 2 and three quarters and the prices were lower than some of our condos here. If we want our tourists to return we must give them something for their money and secure their safety.
In case you’ve missed Mac n Nan’s Karaoke show at Rumors, here’s the scoop and photos: Saturday nights at Rumors Beach Bar you can sing and dance with Mac n Nan. Here’s a link to their photo album for June. Please click here.

I totally agree with you I have found over the past 20 years that Mexico’s airlines are great. Never have had any problems and pleased with their services. Maybe the U.S. should look after there own airlines who have lax attitudes about their standards! Look forward to your daily posts, Kat
Sorry, Kat…but as a pilot with many flying hours, I always found the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organi-zation) to be too lax in their requirements. The U.S. airlines must meet much tighter standards. Mexican airlines are not cheap – let them maintain their aircraft properly.
