Update: The Lighthouse Restaurant is opening next Thursday with dollar night and Friday night they will serve Sushi. I can’t believe it’s Friday already; this week just passed me by. I’m hoping it’s just the humidity and not a permanent state of laziness, but I just don’t feel like doing anything. I was going to get up and go help with picking up garbage, but naturally, I overslept (probably on purpose). Martin Romo of Rosita’s Restaurant, along with other volunteers, has been getting up at the crack of dawn and cleaning up the beaches. They cleaned the estuary this morning, hauling away more than 4,000 kilos of garbage which would have gone into the Sea of Cortez. If we all do our part, like stooping over and picking up other people’s garbage, maybe the fad will catch on. This has long been a problem in San Felipe and it’s great to see something being done. If you see someone littering, don’t feel embarrassed to ask them to pick up their garbage. Oh, and I hear that Martin was on the front page of El Voz this morning, one of Mexicali’s leading newspapers. Don’t forget about the swap meet at the Pavillion tomorrow morning beginning at about 7:00 a.m. and Pete’s Camp has their $5.00 Spaghetti dinner tonight and I can’t believe I spelled it correctly on the first go.

Mr.Ragtime’s article was posted late yesterday, so if you missed it, simply click on the link below or above. If you’d like to write him directly his email is MrRagtime at AOL dot com. This program will automatically post at a time you specify, which is nice if I’m working late and don’t want it up until 7:00 a.m. or so. However, it’s in Military time and I tend to have a hard time with that. Margarite is still recovering from her broken hip in Arizona and she’s not sure when she’ll return but she is recovering. The San Felipe Title Company Bookstore will reopen again on September 2, at least that’s the plan. John Chow, home from his trip to Lake Tahoe to see Angela and Gaylord, his winter neighbors in San Felipe, brought over Chinese food today for lunch, so Luis, John and I each had a plate full. Evidently, he’ll be going back to Reno next month and rumor has it he met a cute little señorita while there. We may have a Guadalupe Sanchez Chow living amongst us. Felicidades Juancito Chow. I’m very happy for him but it kind of sucks cause he was my ride home from the airport on September 24. Oh well, I’ll figure something out. I believe it’s true about being hungry a few hours after you eat Chinese food, because I’m hungry, again. Speaking of hunger, Rositas is giving 13 to 1 exchange, plus a free Margarita with your dinner and they have wi-fi. Can’t beat that.
A “Walkabout” with Kat Episode 6: La Ventana del Mar
24 August 2010 – Tuesday.
I missed posting yesterday as it’s a bit difficult to type when you’re sleeping. Today in San Felipe, we’re in for a hot one with lots of humidity. My outside thermometer reads 95 F with 70% humidity and I had assumed it wasn’t working. However, I just checked SanFelipe.com.mx and the weather is pretty close, so I think it’s working. Wow – 70% humidity ought to bring the best out of everyone today. Nothing like a hot sweaty day to cheer up the masses. If you haven’t taken a look at the new web page for the Shrimp Festival XVII – check it out. It’s a work in progress and although it’s beautiful now, it will be fantastic when it’s completed. You can see that here.
