Good morning everyone. I was going to write last night but didn’t, obviously. I didn’t even check email because for some strange reason, my Internet was down for a few hours. So, I had the bright idea to go to bed earlier than usual and get up early. My husband woke me up at 6:00 and I went back to sleep until 7:15. That’s okay – it’s still early. Last night I went to dinner at “El Nido” with Kore Quin, my friend from North Carolina who has moved back home to San Felipe. We had a very nice time laughing and talking and the food was good too. It’s always a nice time out at the El Nido. I don’t know what was going on out in the street throughout the night, but my dogs were going nuts barking and I’d walk up and call them back. As soon as I’d get back in bed, they’d start up again. They stay up all night playing and barking and sleep all day. When I bring Skooter in, he’ll start barking if he hears anything which makes for a bad night’s sleep as one of us has to get up and let the little monster out. Oh well; es la vida as we say here in the hood. Photo by Kat Hammontre.
For those of you who don’t know, Telnor is beginning to change out all of the 576 numbers and replacing them with 688 prefixes and new options for Internet. This is compliments of Bob Miller, HOA Supervisor at El Dorado Ranch: “On September 24, 2014 Telnor notified the HOA of the following actions. That Effective October 6, 2014 Telnor will be disconnecting the old telephone / internet service (576-XXXX) and will be converting to their WIMAX system only. All owners who wish to convert to WIMAX to continue having telephone and Internet service will need to make arrangements directly with Telnor, using the contact information provided below as follows. You can make arrangements for installation to the new system by calling Telnor from the U.S. using one of the following phone numbers that best suit your current situation. Remember, they will need access to your casa so no appointments can be scheduled for a time until you return back to San Felipe.

Thank you Bob for the scoop and if you want more information (perhaps you live in the Ejido) regarding your phone service, please call the numbers listed above. Georgia Cartwright from the South Beaches posted this on Facelessbook this morning: “Just had a visit from immigration asking for passports and papers. First time ever. They are wanting everyone that is here to get there FMM’s. No FMM or proper documents they say is grounds for deportation. Stop and get your FMM’s at the borders 25.00 for 180 days. The agents that were here were polite and professional.” They were also at Pete’s Camp and Playa del Sol yesterday and these are Immigration folks from Mexicali. Everyone has commented they were very nice and professional but they mean business. They give you one warning; on the second visit and you still don’t have papers, they will start deportation proceedings. So, the rumor is true and immigration will be going “door to door” as they say and if you’re illegal here, it’s grounds for deportation so be sure and stop on your way into Mexico and get your Visa. If you are planning on applying for temporary status, you’ll need it anyway, so better safe than sorry and it’s the law. I have used Lupita Mora Foudy for years, so if you have any questions, give her a call. Here’s a link to her page. And, just a caveat, if you do not have your papers, you’re an illegal! Today, October 3, you are invited to stop in for an open house, located at Saltito and Tiburon between road’s 9 and 10. We will have:
Jewelry by beach beads, Candles by ~Shawnee~, Pickles, Jam gourds and earthworks and Ceramics by CR ceramics by Cathy Rhodas. I believe they will be serving wine and appetizers, so stop by and check out Shawnee’s candles; they smell so good. Homemade pickles; I’ll be there! Photos by Shawnee Bowden.
So, you’re asking yourself what’s going on tonight music wise in San Felipe? Well, tonight at “The Margarita House” the Suns of Beaches with Denny Flannigan and Phil Singletary, will be playing, beginning at 6:00. At Augie’s Jollymon, beginning at about 6:30 you can listen to Isaac and his Rock Group. “Today at 10:00 A.M. next to Hayward Park at the DIF Building, a meeting will take place regarding information for new rules and regulations in the Law concerning Security, stolen property etc., Please attend; there will be two translators. Thank You.” Tomorrow night at Augie’s Jollymon, Derek Willy and Arturo will join Juri in performing so it should be a great show. Tomorrow, the Cachanilla Swap meet starts up again and continues through the season. Remember, if you’re going to sell, it’s on a first come first serve basis, so get there early (like 5:00 am). If you’re just browsing, try and get there early as many of the vendors close shop by 11:00 or before. I suppose it depends on the amount of folks attending.
It’s time to get this posted so whomever wants to attend the 10:00 meeting at Hayward Park can get there. Thank you to George Jackson and Warren Sundquist for your stories/articles. I will be back tomorrow, hopefully with new scoop and some new photos. Have a great day and thanks for stopping in and visiting Kat’s Korner. Ciao for now!
