Monday afternoon.

The Arts and Crafts show is at the Pavillion tomorrow, March 9.  It starts at 10:00 AM and goes till about 3:00 PM.  There are many things for sale, from a new line of purses made from exclusive cigar boxes to custom made hat bands. One item that people really love are the neck pouches. Vicki Silva had the idea of making a pouch on a beaded cord or string to wear around the neck. In it you can put credit cards, drivers license, money etc.  A great place for your iPhone too.  Try and make it.  Photo of the fishing tournament held Saturday on the Malécon by VRR.

8 March 2010 – Monday.

Kay Gabbard sent me this report about delivering books and how sweet it is: “Friday we took books in Spanish to San Matias, a very poor town in the mouontains.  The books were  donated by a member of Clancy Lind’s Rotary in Colorado.  They were slightly used, but to kids who rarely touch a book that is not a textbook, they were a true gift.  We took a lot of pictures, but one really caught our attention.  A little girl in a pink hat took her book to her desk, and you can see by the look on her face and her pursed lips that she was completely oblivious to the commotion going on around her.  It was beautiful to see, but our thought was:  “Will her love of books continue to grow, and if it does, will there be books available to help her grow.”

7 March 2010 – Sunday

If you didn’t make it down to the 2010 3rd Annual Tequila Festival, you still have one last day to sample mouth watering tequilas or buy whole bottles; have an ice cold Tecate or a Bud Light (I don’t know if they have Bud) but the best thing is you get to see a Natasha James Concert.  Listening is one thing but watching and listening is a mind blower.  Seriously, if you didn’t get a chance to stop by, she will perform one more day beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Tavo’s Revolution follows.  The cost of admission to the festival is 50 pesos.  The Natasha James concert is courtesy of Kat’s Korner, Octavio Ascolani, owner of Baja Mar Restaurant; Curt Porter, son of the late Marvin Porter, an Indy 500 winner who was a long time San Felipe resident and he was honored at the 1st Annual Tequila Festival about 2005 I believe and Javier Lachuga of Select Tequilas.  At any rate, bring a jacket as it does get a bit chilly when the wind picks up off of the Sea of Cortez.  However, it’s beautiful during the day.  You can see photos of Friday and Saturday by clicking on this link to Kats Korner Galleries.  There are two options and you want to click on the Web Me icon and the first two albums, Tequila Time II and 2010 3rd Annal San Felipe Tequila Festival, are the latest and if you click on the first photo, scroll down to the lower left and you can see a slide show or whatever other viewing options it gives you.
